By sowing seeds for the future, one mangrove tree at a time, CLIMBS hosted a simultaneous mangrove planting activity in various areas nationwide in relation to its Plant A SEED Program. The term “SEED” stands for Sustainability and Ecosystem-based solutions for Environmental Defense. This initiative is rooted on CLIMBS commitment to the U.N’s Sustainable Development Goals, uniting against the global consequences of climate change, erratic weather conditions, and the rising phenomenon of environmental degradation.

Mangroves serve as a natural buffer for coastal communities to prevent heavy-rain induced flooding and river overflow, minimizing the risks of urban flooding in disaster prone communities in coastal areas.

On October 24-25, 2025, CLIMBS hosted a Mangrove Planting Activity that was successfully conducted at Barangay Tinoto, Maasim, Sarangani Province, where a total of 300 mangrove seedlings were planted. The initiative was a collaborative effort led by CLIMBS CARES, in partnership with KVI Kusgan Volunteers, Sta. Cruz Cooperative, Cooperative Bank of Cotabato, Sta. Catalina Credit Cooperative, Asnalang 6 Fisherfolk, Philippine Coast Guard, and the Philippine Maritime.

Simultaneously, another area also conducted a mangrove planting activity at Delapaz, Clarin, Misamis Occidental in collaboration with Gata Daku Cooperative, Paglaum Cooperative, Department of Environmental and Natural Resources, and Delapaz LGU– planting over an estimate of 1000 mangrove seedlings in the area.

And lastly, another 530 mangrove seedling were planted at Barangay Apale, Isabel, Leyte with OCCI, ORVEMCO, Fatima Multipurpose Cooperative, PASAR, EMPC, Barangay Apale Council, MENRO-ISABEL, 1902 Reserved Armed Forces.

This meaningful activity aimed to promote environmental sustainability, protect coastal ecosystems, and strengthen community participation in climate action. Through this joint effort, the participants demonstrated their shared commitment to nurturing nature and safeguarding marine biodiversity for future generations.
