CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative is proud to announce two significant milestones advanced today in Panama, in line with our commitment to Cooperatives Supporting Cooperatives.
I. Memorandum of Understanding on Global Cooperative Education
Today, Mr. Noel D. Raboy, President and CEO of CLIMBS, together with Ms. Donna Dizon of the Co-operative College of the Philippines, GSVP of CLIMBS and Ms. Rose Marley, CEO of Co-operatives UK and newly elected ICA Director-at-Large, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Co-operatives UK, the Co-operative College of the Philippines, and CLIMBS to advance cooperative education globally.
Rooted in the historic legacy of Rochdale, United Kingdom, this partnership upholds our shared belief that education is the most enduring investment in our movement.
At its core is the Global Cooperative Executive Masterclass (GCEM), which has already convened over 500 cooperative leaders across six cohorts.
The signing was witnessed by Mr. Ariel Guarco, President, International Cooperative Alliance, Mr. Jeroen Douglas, Director General, International Cooperative Alliance, Mr. Danilo Salerno and MGen. Gilbert Llanto, CLIMBS and ICA-AP Director.
II. Fund for International Cooperative Development (FICD ) — From Principle to Action
In his capacity as Director of the Board of the Fund for International Cooperative Development (FICD), Mr. Raboy announced that FICD — a fund for cooperatives, by cooperatives — is now moving from establishment to action.
FICD is now inviting Expressions of Interest for its first distribution of US$68,000 for initiatives in crisis response, post-crisis rebuilding, and long-term cooperative development. The Fund is also seeking 40 new members worldwide.
CLIMBS, as a founding member of FICD, remains steadfast in advancing Principle 6: Cooperation Among Cooperatives — not as a principle we simply affirm, but as a mechanism we activate when cooperatives need us most.
