From CLIMBS Chairperson and President & CEO
The recent magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani and surrounding provinces has caused fear, disruption, and uncertainty for many families and communities. During moments like these, we are reminded that the true strength of the cooperative movement is not measured by the resources we possess, but by our willingness to stand together and care for one another in times of need.
On behalf of CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative, We extend our heartfelt prayers and solidarity to all those affected by this calamity. Our foremost concern is the safety and well-being of our member-owners, policyholders, employees, and their families, as well as the cooperatives and communities we are privileged to serve.
We are closely monitoring the situation in the affected areas. In our branch and satellite offices that have been impacted, we are currently assessing reports and conducting more detailed inspections to determine the extent of any damage. Our priority is to ensure the safety of our personnel while maintaining our readiness to serve our members and stakeholders.
Among our policyholders, we have already received initial reports of damage and losses. Our teams are now on the ground conducting evaluations and assessments so that we can better understand the impact on our members and communities and provide the necessary support. We remain committed to responding as promptly and compassionately as possible during this difficult period.
As a cooperative, we are guided by the principles of โCooperation Among Cooperativesโ and โConcern for Community.โ These principles call us not only to respond, but to act with solidarity, compassion, and shared responsibility. Through CLIMBS CARES, our volunteers, partner cooperatives, and allied organizations, we are coordinating efforts to identify immediate needs and explore ways by which we can extend assistance to affected communities.
History has shown that the cooperative movement is at its strongest when we stand together. Whether in times of typhoons, earthquakes, pandemics, or other crises, we have always drawn strength from our unity and our shared commitment to uplifting one another. Today is no different.
To our fellow cooperators, partners, and friends, let us continue to look after one another, extend a helping hand where we can, and keep our communities in our thoughts and prayers. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, contributes to rebuilding hope and resilience.
Together, we will recover. Together, we will rebuild. Together, we will continue to demonstrate that cooperation remains one of the strongest foundations of resilience in times of adversity.
Our prayers are with all affected families and communities.
