CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative puts sustainability at the core of its mission to protect members and strengthen community resilience. Building on this commitment, CLIMBS Sales and CLIMBS CARES led a nationwide effort that brought together cooperatives across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. With the support of local LGUs, cooperative members, and volunteers, we planted 176,835 new mangrove seedlings along our coastlines. We thank the partnered co-ops who pledged seedlings and those who joined the planting. Together, we’re showing how the cooperative spirit can safeguard both people and nature.
Mangroves are vital to our coastal communities. They absorb carbon, helping slow down climate change. Their roots hold the shoreline, reducing damage from storms and flooding. They also provide homes for fish and other wildlife, supporting local livelihoods. When cooperatives and community members work together, these benefits expand—healthier coastlines, stronger communities, and a more sustainable future.
We take these steps because climate change is already affecting us all. The past decade was the hottest on record, and last year was among the warmest. This means more extreme weather: heatwaves, heavy rains, storms, droughts, and wildfires. Early data from this year shows temperatures remain unusually high. Experts say we must cut emissions faster, and that requires everyone’s help. Every cooperative, volunteer, and community member plays a role in protecting our homes and our planet.
Our first-quarter planting is just the beginning. With CLIMBS Sales, CLIMBS CARES, partnered co-ops, and volunteers leading the way, we’re turning commitment into action across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. We invite our cooperative members, partners, and friends to continue pledging seedlings, joining planting events, and making everyday choices that support our environment. Together, we can build a safer, greener future for all. Thank you for being part of this cooperative mission.
