September 21, 2024CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY— Leading the way to a sustainable crop insurance coverage for Filipino farmers, CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) conducts a roundtable discussion along with several local government officials for a public-private partnership for agriculture insurance last September 4, 2024 at the Mallberry Suites Business Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.
The focus of the discussion was on evaluating the demand for insurance products, assessing farmers’ ability and willingness to pay for these products, and examining their strategies for disaster risk reduction. The participants of the RTD were ADB Consultants, Ms. Payday Geron, Ms. Shayne Rose Bulos, Mr. Arman Oza and Mr. Michael Cohen followed by CLIMBS top management team, led by CEO and President Noel D. Raboy, Vice President for Admin & Corporate Planning, Donna C. Dizon, Vice President for Operations, Blesilda Lagang-Cumba, Vice President for Sales, Renan P. Diaz, and AVP for Admin and Corporate Planning, Ruel T. Arsua.
The LGUs were also represented by esteemed officials from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Region 10, Province Agri Office, City Agriculture Office, National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Region 10.
Highlighting values-based partnerships and disaster risk mitigation response when it comes to various climate change related impacts that disrupts the farming community and the agriculture sector. This top-up approach leads to evaluating the feasibility and effect of introducing new insurance products, models, and financial solutions that are customized to the requirements of the agricultural community.
ADB Consultants’ Visit in CLIMBS HQ
At CLIMBS Headquarters, Mr. Raboy and the top management of CLIMBS also gave a brief welcome to the ADB Consultants. They were also given a tour of the developing areas of the property, which included the CLIMBS Cares Hall’s equipment and the staff of Kusgan Volunteers Inc. (KVI) that oversees the operations.
The visit included a leveling session with the team, reintroducing CLIMBS current initiatives and key components of the Weather Protect Insurance and its profound impact in the insurance industry. Paving the way for a public and private partnership, garnering a whole-of-nation approach for the welfare and development of the Philippine agriculture sector.
