From its humble beginnings in Cagayan de Oro City, CLIMBS has evolved into a dynamic, nationwide network—partnering with primary cooperatives through its CoopAssurance Center (CAC) model. With strategic branch offices in Quezon City, Davao, Cebu, Naga, Baguio, and Iloilo, and satellite offices across the Philippines, CLIMBS continues to broaden its impact. Through innovative financial solutions, it safeguards livelihoods, strengthens community resilience, and contributes to the global movement for inclusive insurance.

1971 – CLIMBS, then Coop Life Mutual Benefit Services Association was founded by Atty. Mordino Cua and Atty. Aquilino Pimentel Sr. which started as a Mutual Benefit Association. 1992 – It was registered with CDA as Coop Life Mutual Benefit Services and constructed its Head Office in Bulua 2006 – CLIFSA was organized and the CoopAssurance Center (CAC) concept was also oficially launched this year 2008 – CLIMBS merged with its own insurance cooperative Coop Life Assurance Society of the PH (CLASP) and in 2010 CLIMBS became CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative, marking its transition into a full-service cooperative insurer offering both life and non-life insurance products. 2011 – This year started the organization of its additional subsidiaries, CIM Formerly CIFL, CIMAC, CSCEIFC, CCLPI, CREDC and CPPPC 2019 – CLIMBS initiated CLIMBS CARES, a volunteer-based outreached program inspired by the Cooperative Principle No. 7: Concern for Community, 2021 – 50th year celebration of CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative, Launching of the novel Weather Protect Insurance with the collective efforts of cooperatives for climate action. #Coops4ClimateAction. 2023 – Groundbreaking of the CLIMBS Fire Station and CLIMBS Complex, and the blessing of CLIMBS’ newly renovated building in its Head Office at Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City. CLIMBS spearheaded the launching of the Philippine Chamber of Cooperatives, Inc. 2024 – CLIMBS transitioned to a climate insurance model to better protect farmers and cooperatives from climate-related risks. 2025 – On September 3, 2025, RECO-OP was officially registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), marking a significant milestone in advancing renewable energy initiatives through the cooperative movement. On December 1, 2025, during the CLIMATE Global Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, CLIMBS officially launched its Takaful initiative, marking a key milestone in providing Shariah-compliant protection solutions. 2026 – On April 28, 2026, at Nustar Cebu, CLIMBS officially launched CLIMBS Bank currently known as Rural Bank of Gingoog, marking a new chapter in providing accessible and innovative financial services while reinforcing its commitment to empowering cooperatives and communities across the Philippines.On July 6, 2026, in Cotabato City, CLIMBS officially launched its Takaful products, expanding access to inclusive protection solutions for cooperatives and communities.

Over the years, CLIMBS has generated a total of PHP 28.90 billion in premiums, reflecting the sustained growth of its operations and the continued trust of its member-owners. This expansion is further demonstrated by the cooperative’s reach, with a total of 40.58 million insured individuals and entities served through its life and non-life insurance products.
In delivering on its commitment to provide financial protection, CLIMBS has disbursed PHP 14.15 billion in claims, representing a substantial return of value to its members during times of need. With a total of 89,505 claims recorded from 2021 to 2025, the cooperative has consistently fulfilled its role as a reliable partner in risk protection. The average annual claims payout of approximately PHP 262.05 million highlights the scale and consistency of support extended to communities.
These figures underscore CLIMBS’ financial strength, operational scale, and its continuing impact in providing accessible and responsive insurance solutions. Through its sustained growth and service delivery, CLIMBS reinforces its role as a trusted institution supporting resilience and security for cooperatives and communities nationwide.
Extending Care, Strengthening Communities
CLIMBS continues to extend its social impact through programs that support community well-being, promote inclusion, and respond to urgent needs. These initiatives reflect a commitment to ensuring that services remain accessible and responsive, particularly for underserved communities.
CLIMBS through its community response arm, CLIMBS’ Community Action Response Emergency Services (C.A.R.E.S.), continues to extend support to grassroots communities by implementing various social welfare and emergency response initiatives. The program reached 41 barangays through 15 outreach activities conducted in partnership with 29 outreach group partners.
In support of community health and welfare, CLIMBS C.A.R.E.S. conducted Operation Tuli, benefiting 857 children in the community. Emergency and disaster assistance efforts included the distribution of 330 Emergency Go Bags, 4,300 health and hygiene kits, and 4,300 food packs, along with essential relief supplies such as clothing and basic medicines.
In partnership with Kusgan Volunteers Inc., (KVI), the team has responded to 17 fire emergencies, reinforcing CLIMBS’ commitment to rapid response and disaster assistance for affected communities.
Through its water distribution initiative, CLIMBS C.A.R.E.S. provided 138,681 gallons of water, mobilizing 114 participating employees and reaching 10 areas/communities experiencing limited access to clean water.
Additional community support included the distribution of 920 school supplies, the establishment of four PNP outposts, provision of nine tents for community use, and the donation of three welding machines to partner communities to support livelihood development and local safety initiatives.
