CLIMBS Life and General Insurance GAD Focal Person Ms. Alyssa Cinde V. Rosales and the CLIMBS GAD committee attended the 5th National Summit on Gender and Development (GAD) in Cooperatives at the Vigan Convention Center in Vigan City on March 4-6, 2026, to reinforce the importance of women’s empowerment and advocate for gender equality. With the theme, “Accelerating Gender Equality for Real and Lasting Change in Philippine Co-ops,” conducted by Gender Equality Resource Center (GERC) Inc. The 3-day event tackled many issues centered on the ongoing discourse between gender and development in the nation, shedding light on important topics such as the role of GAD in Various Co-op Advocacies (Climate Change, Digital Technology, Enterprise Development) and accelerating GAD mainstreaming gains and initiatives in co-ops throughout the years.

In keeping with the month-long celebration of Women’s Month, this brings to light the serious concerns that women face today. CLIMBS’ GAD Committee composed of Dr. Irma E. Cruz of St. Martin of Tours Credit and Development Cooperative, Ms. Janette B. Romero of Bohol Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and.Mr. Albin O. Respuesto of Agdao Multi-Purpose Cooperative aims to increase their influence and participation in various gender-focused initiatives across the country. Highlighting the various aspects that promote awareness about violence against women, children, and the elderly, as well as addressing the gender disparities that persist in society.
