August 6, 2022 – The Weather Protect Insurance: Cooperators for Climate Action and Education sixth roadshow event was held in Acacia Hotel, Davao City and considered as one of CLIMBS’s main events was attended by 51 cooperative leaders with a total of 118 participants. The event was graced by the Head of Agriculture, Agrarian, Aquaculture, Farmers, Dairy, and Fisherfolk Cooperatives Cluster in the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Assistant Secretary Virgilio R. Lazaga, MD, as our special guest speaker. The event was capped off by the ceremonial signing of the Weather Protect Insurance Memorandum of Understanding to further strengthen the partnership between Global Parametrics Limited and CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative. Global Parametrics an organization who leverage advances in climate science, data modelling and financial engineering to build the tools needed to understand, manage and mitigate the risks of extreme weather and natural disasters anywhere in the world, was represented by their Impact & ESG Manager, Ms. Wendy Smith and CLIMBS represented by President & CEO, Mr. Noel Raboy. In said partnership, Global Parametrics and CLIMBS commit themselves to achieve their goal of building a more sustainable food system and the fulfillment of their vision, insuring the grassroots population of the Philippines through the development and implementation of the Weather Protect Insurance (WPI) thereby addressing the agricultural sector which is severely affected by multiple calamities and disasters annually.
The enhancement and reinstitution of the WPI is also CLIMBS’s commitment to the United Nation’s (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), specifically: 1 – No Poverty, 2 – Zero Hunger, 9 – Industry, Innovation, & Infrastructure, 11 – Sustainable Cities & Communities, 12 – Responsible Consumption & Production, 13 – Climate Action, 17 – Partnership for the Goals.
